Hence, it has been amended several times like, in 2015 the Paris Agreement which aimed at limiting the global warming below 2 degree Celsius and pursue it to limit of 1.5 degree Celsius.

2. How Frequently COP28 works and its background ?

In the realm of international climate change negotiations, the Conference of the Parties (COP) has emerged as a crucial platform for global collaboration. As the world demands with the urgent need to address climate change, COP meetings serve as a vital forum for nations to come together, share knowledge, and devise strategies to combat one of the most common global challenges. However, some drawbacks of it is its Insufficient ambition, lack of enforcement mechanism to ensure the countries comply with their commitment, lack of equity since the developing countries and undeveloped countries will require more time than the developed nations like:- U.S.A., Italy, etc…. .COP meetings are organized by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and are held annually to assess progress in dealing with climate change and to negotiate and implement measures to mitigate its impacts. These conferences bring together representatives from nearly 200 countries, including government officials, scientists, activists, and stakeholders from various sectors. Hence, COP28 is one of the few International groups in which nearly all countries agree, but this had a drawback too to implement the policies to all the members the aim of the resolutions is too narrow.

The frequency of COP meetings has evolved over time, reflecting the growing recognition of the urgency to address climate change. Initially, COP meetings were held every year. However, in recent years, there has been a shift towards holding them biennially. This change was implemented to allow more time for countries to implement measures agreed upon during previous conferences and to enhance the effectiveness of the negotiations. As we look ahead to COP28, it is essential to understand the background and context in which this milestone event will take place. COP28 will mark a crucial moment in the global response to climate change, as it will coincide with the deadline set by the Paris Agreement for countries to submit their updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). These NDCs outline each country's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change. The Paris Agreement, adopted in 2015 at COP21, represents a landmark achievement in international climate diplomacy. It aims to limit global warming to well below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels and pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius. COP28 will play a pivotal role in assessing progress towards these goals and mobilizing further action.
In addition to the NDCs, COP28 will address various other key issues related to climate change. These may include discussions on financing mechanisms for climate action, technology transfer, capacity-building initiatives, and adaptation strategies. The conference will provide a platform for countries to share best practices, exchange knowledge, and foster collaboration in addressing the multifaceted challenges posed by climate change. One of the key objectives of COP28 will be to enhance ambition in global climate action. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has repeatedly emphasized the need for urgent and far-reaching measures to mitigate climate change's impacts. COP28 will provide an opportunity for countries to showcase their commitment to scaling up their efforts and raising their climate ambitions. As with previous COP meetings, COP28 is expected to attract significant attention from the media, civil society organizations, and the public. The conference will serve as a platform for raising awareness about climate change issues and highlighting the importance of collective action. It will also provide an opportunity for stakeholders to engage in advocating various policies, dialogues related to Climate Change. In conclusion, COP28 represents a milestone event in the global response to climate change. As countries gather to assess progress and negotiate future actions, this conference will play a crucial role in shaping the trajectory of international climate policy. With its frequency adjusted to allow for more effective implementation of measures.COP28 holds immense significance in mobilizing global collaboration towards a sustainable future. As we look forward to this landmark event, let us hope that it will serve as a catalyst for transformative action and inspire nations to redouble their efforts in combating climate change.
